The benefits of a binding citizens’ referendum
A binding citizens’ referendum, in which the population votes directly on specific issues, can offer various benefits within a democratic system. The current political system no longer works. The plans in election manifestos are often completely unrecognisable in the coalition agreement of the governing parties after the elections.

People don’t feel heard by the current politicians. Problems such as the childcare benefits scandal and Groningen are barely, if ever, resolved. So it needs to be different, and it can be different! Introducing a binding citizens’ referendum system is the most democratic system there is.
